The novel “Bend it like Beckham” by Narinder Dhami deals with the problem of a girl to complet her life’s dream.

Jess is an 17 years old Indian girl, who lives in England. Her dream is to play at Manchester United,  next to David Beckham. Then she enters into the Hounslow Harriers football girl’s side. But her parent’s don’t like her playing football, so that she has to keep it secret. Another problem is that her sister “Pinky” will getting marriage and Jess mustn’t dirty their glory. But Jess’s dream is so big that she takes the risk and tells her parents lies, i.e. that she works in a shop with her best friend Jules who’s at the football team, too.
